With a 7-show season at 2 of Center Theatre Group’s venues, the new artistic director is putting special focus on reviving the beloved, beleaguered Mark Taper Forum.
When the L.A. theatre announced a season light on women playwrights, a protest led to change and greater transparency.
After 16 years at the helm of the L.A. regional powerhouse, he’ll step aside at the end of this calendar year.
Next season at the Mark Taper Forum and the Kirk Douglas will feature world premieres by Lucas Hnath and Eliza Clark, plus works by Tracy Letts, Lynn Nottage, and Luis Valdez.
Center Theatre Group’s smallest house will also present works by Paul Rudnick and Quiara Alegría Hudes.
Also included are new works by Stein | Holum Projects, Tim Crouch, Jon Robin Baitz, Ngozi Anyanwu, and three local companies.
The roster at CTG’s small Westside space also includes Geoff Sobelle and Samuel Beckett.
