Now in its 55th year, Chicago’s 2023 Equity Jeff Awards saw big wins for “The Who’s Tommy” and “The Dream King.”
The program is currently accepting applications from Chicagoland theatre artists of color, two of whom will receive grants of $10,000.
Drury Lane, Windy City Playhouse, Court Theatre, and Mercury Theater all received best production awards for plays and musical produced during the pandemic-shortened season.
The annual Chicago theatre awards honored Remy Bumppo Theatre Company and Court Theatre with five awards each,
Goodman Theater also won big at Monday night’s ceremony.
The theatre company will be recognized for its 30 years as an innovative ensemble.
At last night’s ceremony honoring non-union productions, Bailiwick and Griffin Theatre Company were big winners, and a posthumous award went to Russ Tutterow.
