Miller, who has been TheatreSquared’s executive director since 2009, will leave for his new job in September.
This year’s national conference features work by jose sebastian alberdi, Jan Rosenberg, a.k. payne, Alex Lin, Collin Van Son, and Liba Vaynberg.
Currently the head of acting/musical theatre at the University of Arizona and AD of the Arizona Repertory Theatre, he will succeed Christina Kirk in Nebraska in August.
The program, which will commission new works from queer playwrights of color, will debut with a play by Steve H. Broadnax III.
A dramaturg by nature, Slight hopes to build on Raven’s commissions and its commitment to its local community.
The commission aims to support the creation of full-length works by trans, nonbinary, and two-spirit (TNB2S+) theatre artists, and comes with a $10,000 grant to develop new work with the company.
The fellowship comes with a $35,000 living stipend, a $5,000 artistic fund, mentorship with a chosen mentor playwright, workshops, readings, and more.
This year’s competition focused on artists from Middle Eastern, North African, and South Asian cultures.
