After 23 years at the Off Broadway new-play company, Sanford will pass the baton to longtime associate a.d. Adam Greenfield.
Richberg has been serving as interim managing director since June.
The director and performer succeeds Mary Kathryn Nagle in the role.
The longtime deputy dean and professor at Yale School of Drama, who also served as Yale Rep’s managing director, will end her tenure next June.
Founding director Susan D. Atkinson and artistic director Keith Baker will step down at the end of the 2019-20 season.
