Haruna Lee, Shayan Lotfi, Deepa Purohit, Jordan Seavey, SM Shephard-Massat, Phillip Christian Smith, and Bryna Turner will begin their residencies this fall.
New works from six finalists will take the stage over two weekends this fall.
The twelve-month residency, which begins in September, features monthly workshops and culminates in new play development readings produced by the Geffen.
The annual commission partners an emerging playwright, director, and Method-trained actors to develop an ensemble play.

10 Latinx/é playwriting fellows will attend a week-long writers’ workshop guided by industry professionals on the business and craft of playwriting.
The fellowship includes a new-play commission, a living allowance, access to office and rehearsal space, a ticket stipend, and a developmental workshop.
The ambitious program, slated to seed 22 new plays, has announced its first 4 commissioned writers: Donnetta Lavinia Grays, Robert Schenkkan, Mansa Ra, and Lauren Gunderson.
