TCG Announces First Round of 2018 Edgerton New Play Awards

The grants will enable extra development and rehearsal time for 9 productions of new works.

Composer Jason Robert Brown and director Diane Paulus are among the artists who will develop new works at Princeton University.

Udofia will be in residence at Connecticut’s Hartford Stage for the fellowship.

At the awards ceremony honoring Off Broadway, ‘Is God Is’ by Aleshea Harris and ‘Mary Jane’ by Amy Herzog were the most-lauded shows.

The theatre company will be recognized for its 30 years as an innovative ensemble.

Now in its fourth year, the fellowship honors directors Aprita Mukherjee, Tatiana Pandiani, Mei Ann Teo, Hannah Wolf, and Jenna Worsham.

GALA Hispanic Theatre and Shakespeare Theatre Company took home the most awards.

The upstate New York farm will host playwrights, composers, directors, filmmakers, and artists creating new works throughout the summer.

The 12 recipients include Anthony Boyle, Jamie Brewer, Denise Gough, Noma Dumezweni, and Harry Hadden-Paton.

The annual awards recognize both ‘Cost of Living’ and ‘School Girls’ in the play category, and ‘KPOP’ as a musical.
