The award comes with a $35,000 cash prize to support an original work, along with a residency at the Hermitage and a developmental workshop of the play in a major arts capital in the fall of 2023.
Established to recognize a woman, femme, trans, or non-binary playwright of the African diaspora, the residency will provide a salary with benefits and full support to pursue creative work.
