The festival will show readings of work by the Realm’s 2023 Writing Fellows.
The prestigious award comes with an unrestricted grant of $175,000.
The dramatists will present a reading with the other 2023 award winners at the Center for Fiction on March 30.
They take the honor for the as-yet-unproduced play ‘In the Amazon Warehouse Parking Lot,’ written for cast of 7 women, non-binary, and trans actors over 50.
The Billie has received this award in recognition of 50 years carrying the mantle for Black voices and Black artistic expression in Bedford-Stuyvesant.
6 artists will present new works in development over 2 weekends in April.
The partnership will see Black Theatre Coalition fellows working on an upcoming Black Broadway Men play reading.
Valles will attend a new residency program created by playwright Jeremy O. Harris, who also selected Valles’s play ‘Bathhouse.pptx’ for the prize.
