The commission aims to support the creation of full-length works by trans, nonbinary, and two-spirit (TNB2S+) theatre artists, and comes with a $10,000 grant to develop new work with the company.
The fellowship comes with a $35,000 living stipend, a $5,000 artistic fund, mentorship with a chosen mentor playwright, workshops, readings, and more.
This year’s competition focused on artists from Middle Eastern, North African, and South Asian cultures.
Both will receive $10,000 throughout the one-year Project YZ program.

6 recipients will be able to shadow or observe directors and choreographers on professional productions.
