Chelsea Clinton’s characters leap from page to stage in the world premiere of ‘She Persisted, the Musical’ at Bay Area Children’s Theatre.
The lineup includes three premieres and work by seven female playwrights.
For the first time in two decades, the company will present a production composed by Stephen Sondheim.
The anniversary season will include three world premieres, two plays by August Wilson, and Disney’s ‘Newsies.’
The lineup features plays by Heather Raffo, Lynn Nottage, Tennessee Williams, Karen Zacarías, and Robert Harling, among others.
Also in the lineup are a new play by Heidi Armbruster, as well as Noël Coward’s ‘Private Lives’ and Wendy MacLeod’s ‘Slow Food.’
The four plays were selected from a record 659 submissions, a 15 percent increase from the previous record set in 2018.
The third listing from the organization aims to lift up Latinx voices in theatre.
The lineup features two mainstage productions and a year-long reading series.
