Park Square Theatre Announces 2019-20 Season

The lineup includes lively musicals, classic stories, and a world premiere under new artistic director Flordelino Lagundino.

Hana S. Sharif’s inaugural season as artistic director will include world premieres by Somi and Kirsten Greenidge, and ‘Angels in America.’

More than $500,000 has been awarded in scholarships and grants to 30 student artists and 13 school communities.

The annual festival will feature five staged readings and world premieres by Qui Nguyen and Kevin Artigue.

The lineup will include four world premieres and five new works across their two stages.

The event honored Martha Rivers Ingram, Rick Miramontez, and Tony Kushner.

Greco’s accomplishments in theatre were honored at a ceremony last week.

Plays by Leah Nanako Winkler, Kate Hamill, and Herbert Siguenza will receive a staged reading at Cygnet Theatre.

Last year Erin Treadway broke bones and stopped the show, but now she’s back in Leegrid Stevens’s solo piece about a weightless trip to Mars.

Whittington will step down from the North Carolina theatre at the end of the 2018-19 season, following a 20-year-long run.
