American Theatre is proud to be the venue for Theatrical Mustang, an independently produced podcast from actor-writer-activist Woodzick. Each month they’ll bring listeners interviews with unbridled talent and cultural trailblazers from across the country.
This month they talk with Taylor Adams, an Omaha, Neb.-based director who mainly focuses their works on gender expression and the queer experience in the Midwest. They have a deep love for helping other creatives tell stories, but more importantly for fostering both community and the singular artist’s voice in a collaborative rehearsal space. Adams has been performing since they were 5, been designing regionally since they were 19, and began directing professionally at age 21. Credits include the world premiere of Popularity Coach at the Rose Theatre in Omaha and Ruthless! The Musical at Creighton University. Design awards include the 2020 KCACTF Region 5 Scenic Design Award for Riot, Repeat by Viv Parr, OEA Scenic Design Award for The Dairy-Maid Right by Ellen Struve.
Adams will next be directing at the 2023 Great Plains Theater Conference in Nebraska this summer. They are currently a Holland Community Opera Fellow with Opera Omaha, providing artistic programming to various nonprofits serving the Omaha metro area.
