NEW YORK CITY: Theatre Communications Group (TCG), the publisher of American Theatre, has announced scholarship and subsidy opportunities for in-person attendees of its hybrid national conference, which will be held virtually June 15-17, and in person at the Westin Pittsburgh in Pittsburgh, Pa., June 16-18. Scholarship applications will be accepted until end of day Friday April 1, and all applicants will be notified by April 15.
A minimum of 51 percent of funds will be awarded to applicants who are Black, Indigenous, or People of Color (BIPOC), trans or gender nonconforming (TGNC), and disabled. TCG is committed to centering these communities and ensuring greater access that will benefit even more theatre practitioners. In the spirit of supporting multigenerational representation, applicants who are 30 years old and under or 60 years old and over are also encouraged to apply.
The funding opportunities range from half-off registration subsidies to full conference scholarships, with different options for those who live within and beyond 70 miles from the conference. TCG offers an early-bird discount (through April 15, with the code CONF22EARLY), as well as special group and student pricing, regardless of whether customers are attending virtually or in person. In addition, applications for conference volunteers will be considered through April 1.
According to a statement from TCG, this year’s conference programming will unify three arcs: “redefining our art, transforming our practices, and tending to our people.” Events will include breakout sessions, workshops, plenaries, affinity spaces, performances, TCG labs, and new asynchronous content options.
