Offscript, American Theatre’s flagship podcast for a number of years, is back as a Facebook Live chat with the magazine’s editors and special guests as well as an audio podcast.
This week the editors talk to Jamil Jude, artistic director of the Atlanta theatre Kenny Leon’s True Colors, about his city, about “pandemic producing,” and about the state of Black theatres and Black artists, and how systemic inequities can pull these two groups apart. He tells us about the Next Narrative Monologue Competition, about plans for his season, and about the uniquely welcoming environment his Big Peach company provides for Black artists and audiences.
