HOUSTON: Mildred’s Umbrella Theatre Company has announced that live programming will be on hold until December 2020, and that its 2020-21 season program will be presented virtually.

First up will be a reading of  Elizabeth Keel’s Tooth and Tail (Sept. 5-15), a family-friendly tale with princesses, dragons, and lots of adventure. Tickets will be available for registration on Aug. 15.

Next up will be a filmed production of Anat Gov’s Oh My God (Oct. 13-15), presented in collaboration with the Evelyn Rubenstein Jewish Community Center of Houston and the Consulate General of Israel in Houston. The play explores what might happen if God walked into a therapist’s office. The production, filmed by Ricornel Productions, stars Rhett Martinez and Sammi Sicinski. Amelia Rico will direct. Tickets will be available for registration Sept. 15.

Following will be Fine Wines (November), a monologue series that explores how famous monologues for ingenues take on new meaning if performed by older women. Exact dates to be announced.

The programming will continue with Femfest Houston: Black Women’s Voices (Dec. 4, 5, 6), a reading series featuring three plays by playwrights who are Black women. Curated by Dabrina Sandifer, and in partnership with Esurient Arts, the series will be presented at 14 Pews.

Next will be Women Rock (February 2021), the company’s annual concert fundraiser at Rudyards. Exact date to be announced.

The season will come full circle with the world premiere of Keel’s Tooth and Tail (March 18-April 3, 2021), at the DeLuxe Theater.
