NEW YORK CITY: The Off Broadway Alliance (OBA) has announced the winners of the 10th annual Off Broadway Alliance Awards, which honor commercial and nonprofit Off-Broadway productions. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, Charles Bush, Julie Halston, and OBA president Peter Breger presented the awards online. Among the winners are Michael R. Jackson‘s Pulitzer Prize-winning musical A Strange Loop.
In addition to the competitive awards, Mark Blum, Wynn Handman, and Julia Miles will be posthumously inducted into OBA’s Off Broadway Hall of Fame, recognizing their contributions to Off-Broadway during their lifetimes. To honor their sustained achievement in Off-Broadway theatre, Gretchen Cryer, Woodie King Jr., Eric Krebs, and Barbara Zinn Krieger received Legends of Off Broadway awards. The Drama Bookshop is also being awarded the Friend of Off Broadway award, honoring persons or organizations for their steadfast support of the Off-Broadway community.
The alliance is made up of Off-Broadway producers, theatres, general managers, press agents, and marketing professionals. OBA is planning on celebrating the winners with a reception later this fall.
