ST. LOUIS: The Repertory Theatre of St. Louis has announced its 2018-19 season, artistic director Steven Woolf’s final season at the helm before he retires.
The season will start with Evita (Sept. 5-30), with lyrics by Tim Rice and music by Andrew Lloyd Webber, a musical about Eva Perón’s rise from poverty to power in her role as the First Lady of Argentina.
Next up will be Lucas Hnath’s A Doll’s House, Part 2 (Oct. 10-Nov. 4), which takes place 15 years after the completion of Ibsen’s A Doll’s House and marks Nora Helmer’s return.
Following will be Philip Grecian’s A Christmas Story (Nov. 28-Dec. 23), an adaptation of the classic holiday movie about a young boy yearning for a Red Ryder BB gun for Christmas.
The season will continue with Alabama Story (Jan. 2-27, 2019), by Kenneth Jones, about a librarian and a segregationist senator facing off over an innocent children’s book in 1959 Montgomery.
Next will be Oslo (Feb. 6-March 3, 2019), by J.T. Rogers, a drama about the secretive and precarious negotiations that took place behind the historic event, as told through the story of the Norwegian couple who brokered conversations between the Israelis and Palestinatians.
The season will conclude with a sixth show (March 13-April 7, 2019), which will be announced at a later date.
Founded in 1966, the Repertory Theatre of St. Louis develops and produces new plays and classic works.
