BALTIMORE: Single Carrot Theatre (SCT) has announced its 2017-18 season, its 11th, which includes adaptations, new works, and collaborations.

First up will be Lear by Young Jean Lee (Sept. 29-Oct. 27), a twist on Shakespeare’s tragedy that explores the tensions between stuffy parents and their seemingly selfish millennial children.

Next up will be A Public Reading of an Unproduced Screenplay About the Death of Walt Disney by Lucas Hnath (Feb. 2-25, 2018), which exposes some of the darker realities about Walt Disney.

The following show will be Peter Pan (April 27-May 20, 2018),  a collaboration with Baltimore’s LGBTQ+ community and service organizations. In this retelling of J.M. Barrie’s classic, gender and sexuality are seen through the lens of queer culture while Neverland is transformed into a safe haven for those who have been devalued and rejected.

Putin On Ice (Fall 2018), by Lola Pierson, will be next. Blending fable and melodrama, the show explores historical parallels and political authority with unnerving implications. Yury Urnov will direct.

Single Carrot Theatre was founded in 2006 and aims to be a driving force for theatrical innovation in Baltimore.
