KANSAS CITY, MO.: Kansas City Actors Theatre has announced its 2017-18 season, featuring five plays.
The season will open with Agatha Christie’s And Then There Were None (Aug. 9-27), a murder mystery that follows 10 people alone on an island. John Rensenhouse will direct.
Next up will be Sam Shepard’s A Lie of the Mind (Sept. 13-Oct. 1), about two families linked by an act of violence. Cinnamon Schultz will direct.
Following will be Shakespeare’s King Lear (Oct. 13-22), presented in partnership with UMKC Theatre. The cast will include Theodore Swetz, Mark Robbins, Peggy Friesen, and Logan Black. Ed Stern will direct.
The season will continue with Gardner McKay’s Sea Marks (Jan. 10-28, 2018), a romantic comedy about a fisherman from a remote island in Ireland who falls in love with a woman he has only seen once. Jan Rogge will direct.
Next will be Skylight (May 23-June 10, 2018), by David Hare, about a successful restaurateur who visits his former mistress in a poor London neighborhood. Darren Sextro will direct.
Kansas City Actors Theatre, founded in 2004, is an artist-driven organization that presents both classic and contemporary plays.
