PORTLAND, ORE.: CoHo Productions has announced its 2017-18 season, featuring four productions.
The season will open with Madeleine George’s The (Curious Case of the) Watson Intelligence (Sept. 8-30), an exploration of four different eras of innovation with inventions ranging from the telephone to artificial intelligence. Philip Cuomo will direct.
Next up will be Year of the Rooster (Oct. 27-Nov. 18), by Olivia Dufault, about a 19-year-old in a small town who enters his prize-fighting rooster in a cockfight for a chance at the American dream. The cast will feature Rolland Walsh and Mike O’Connell. Walsh will coproduce with CoHo Productions.
Following will be This Girl Laughs, This Girl Cries and This Girl Does Nothing (Feb. 9-March 3, 2018), by Finegan Kruckemeyer, which follows the lives of 10-year-old triplet sisters who were abandoned in the woods and separate to find their own paths. The cast will include Alex Ramirez, Jennifer Rowe, and Beth Thompson. The show will be coproduced by CoHo Productions, Tamara Carroll, and Thompson. Carroll will direct.
The season will conclude with Rebecca Gilman’s Luna Gale (April 20-May 12, 2018), about a social worker who struggles to set a neglected infant’s life on the right path. The cast will include Sharonlee McLean, Danielle Weathers, Jahnavi Alyssa, Michel Castillo, Jason Glick, and Marian Mendez. Glick and Weathers will coproduce with CoHo Productions, and Brandon Woolley will direct.
Founded in 1995, CoHo Productions solicits scripts and project proposals from the theatre community in Portland, Ore., and produces plays each season in partnership.
