9. This may be the furthest afield from Shakespeare. Closing out the LaMama’s series is Motus Theatre’s “Nella Tempesta,” which mashes up text from Philip K. Dick, William Gibson, Aldous Huxley, “Une Tempête” by Aimé Césaire and—oh yeah, Shakespeare—and weaves in contemporary references, including Hurricane Sandy. Fair enough, since an account of a real-life hurricane in the Americas in 1609 is said to have inspired Shakespeare’s play.
