LOS ANGELES: Theatre West has announced its 2015—16 season, including a children’s theatre adaptation, a musical revival, plays, and special events.
Currently running is Hope Juber and Jeff Doucette’s Without Annette (through Aug. 30), a comedy set in an improv workshop featuring Heather Alyse Becker, Shaun Brady, Yancey Dunham, Jason Frankovitz, Jeremy Klein, Kyle Klein, Maria Kress, Charlie Mount, Claire Partin, Chloe Rosenthal, Andrew Walker, and Andrew Villarreal. Mount is the director.
Next is John Bishop’s The Musical Comedy of Murders of 1940 (Sept. 11—Oct. 18), about an audition for a Broadway musical that goes awry when the hopeful actors are trapped in a snowstorm upstate. The cast includes Jacque Lynn Colton, Michelle Holmes, Ivy Jones, Anne Leyden, Emily Rose McLeod, Don Moore, Joe Nassi, Patrick Rogers, Scott Sieffert, and Kevin Yarbrough. Michael Van Duzer will direct.
Next is The Emperor’s New Clothes (Oct. 10—Feb. 27, 2016), a coproduction with Storybook Theatre.
Following will be Roy Battocchio’s Thicker Than Water (Feb. 5—March 13, 2016), an old-fashioned comedy about a murderous family. Stu Berg will direct.
Next will be Garry Michael Kluger’s A Thorn in the Family Paw (May 5—22, 2016), about the growth of a family spanning 50 years of change, marriage, and war.
Next is Mount’s The Leather Apron Club (June 9—26, 2016), about a rising star in cable news and media who is asked to commit a terrible crime in order to join a secret society that claims to have been running the United States for more than 200 years. Mount will also direct.
The season will also include Millennium Magic XVI (Dec. 4—6), an annual fundraiser featuring magicians from the Magic Castle.
Also part of the season will be WestFest (Nov. 6—Nov. 22), the annual festival of new works.
