BALTIMORE: Single Carrot Theatre (SCT) has named Alix Fenhagen as the new managing director. She will succeed Elliot Rauh in the position.
“Alix Fenhagen’s résumé is long and diverse, and her leadership skills, along with her marketing expertise, make her a perfect fit,” said Karen Stokes, president of the theatre’s board of directors, in a statement. “We are very excited and lucky to have her.”
Fenhagen has been an SCT ensemble member for the past three seasons as a performer, writer, and director, and is scheduled to appear in two productions in the upcoming season. She received a Masters of Arts in Administration from Goucher College, where she received the Jean Wilhelm Award for her major paper The Artistic Administrator: Enhancing Adaptive Leadership in Arts Administrators Through Active Participation in the Arts. Fenhagen also trained at École Internationale de Théâtre Jacques Lecoq in Paris and is a graduate of Northwestern University. She previously worked with New York’s Subjective Theatre Company CoLab, and performed in various Off-Off Broadway productions.
“Single Carrot Theatre is poised to play an integral part in the fabric of Baltimore,” said Fenhagen in a statement. “Navigating this ensemble through its transition from an innovative DIY startup into sustainable, far-reaching, and mature organization while guarding SCT’s vitality and risk-taking nature is a wonderful and exciting opportunity. The coming season is filled with new and original work that I believe our patrons would not see elsewhere.”
