ATLANTA: Dad’s Garage has named Jon Carr their new executive producer. Carr previously served as the company’s artistic director before leaving in 2020 to serve as executive producer at the Second City.
“Jon and I agree on so many things, on where Dad’s is and where it could go,” artistic director Tim Stoltenberg said in a statement provided to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. “He is such a great asset. Our mission is to grow our programming both at Dad’s and outside of Dad’s.”
Carr began taking improv classes at Dad’s Garage in 2003 and was ultimately named artistic director in 2019. He left his post at Second City in Chicago in 2022 after a private equity firm, ZMC, purchased the well-known comedy theatre. Carr then served as the marketing director at Aurora Theatre. He is a member of the board of the Detroit Creativity Project and is the founder of Vaguely Specific Productions.
