PHILADELPHIA: Directors Gathering (DG) has announced their 2023 convening. The theme of this year’s convening will be the Universality of Art-Making.
The convening, which will be held virtually on Sept. 30-Oct. 1, will feature Nataki Garrett as the keynote speaker. Garrett will also participate in a moderated post-keynote conversation, drawing on her experiences as a director and as the former artistic director of the Oregon Shakespeare Festival. She will discuss how she and other arts leaders interface with varied artistic mediums to create necessary change.
Additionally, the organization will partner with the Swarthmore College Department of Theater and will host a seminar with professor Jude Sandy. The convening will also offer a directing class, roundtables and salons, and networking opportunities for directors.
Registration is open through Sept. 15 on the DG website. Registration is free for DG members and is available on a sliding scale for non-members; all registrants will become members for the remainder of 2023. Convening attendees will receive access to DG’s Mighty Networks, a digital networking platform. Attendees will also receive a special copy of the digital journal DG Circle.
