Offscript, American Theatre’s flagship podcast for a number of years, is back as a Facebook Live chat with the magazine’s editors and special guests as well as an audio podcast.
This month we had the distinct pleasure of speaking to two Tony-nominated playwrights, Martyna Majok (Cost of Living) and Stephen Adly Guirgis (Between Riverside and Crazy), about their plans for the Tony Awards (later today at United Palace Theatre) given the current WGA strike, about where their plays come from, and how the high profile of Broadway has affected their careers and the field.
Then we check in with Playbill editor-in-chief Diep Tran to talk about the significance of the Tonys in a roller-coaster of a season, and about how her position at an in-house industry trade publication has meant finding healthy alternatives to social media opinionating.
