SARASOTA, FLA.: Asolo Repertory Theatre has named Ross Egan their new managing director. Egan will assume the role on July 1 following the departure of current managing director Linda DiGabriele, who has been with the theatre for 50 years.
“I am thrilled to craft the future of Asolo Rep in collaboration with Ross Egan, who brings a depth of business acumen and a palpable passion for the art form,” producing artistic director Peter Rothstein said in a statement. “He understands the complexities of leading a nonprofit theatre in these challenging times, and is driven by a spirit of creativity and innovation.”
Egan has been the managing director of Virginia’s Barter Theatre since 2019, and helped produce drive-in programming at the onset of the pandemic. He previously served as director of operations at the Illinois Shakespeare Festival and is a founder of the Jeff Award-winning Refuge Theatre Project in Chicago. Egan holds a BFA from Michigan State University and an MBA from Illinois State University.
“I am honored to join the leadership team at Asolo Rep,” Egan said in a statement. “The theatre’s reputation for producing high-quality theatre and developing new work has grown exponentially under Michael and Linda’s leadership. I look forward to working with Peter to continue this robust tradition.”
