LOS ANGELES: Latino Theater Company is accepting submissions for the Re-Encuentro Festival. The festival follows the company’s Encuentro Festival in 2014 and international Encuentro de las Americas Festival in 2017.
The festival, which celebrates the richness of contemporary Latinx theatre and highlights the diversity of Latinx culture, will present eight companies in digital residence at the Los Angeles Theatre Center, with performances, panels, and events on Latino Theater Company’s online platform. In addition to presenting their work to the public, artists will share creative methodologies in artistic workshops, culminating in the performance of a new co-created work. Post-performance discussions and roundtables will also be included.
Any ensemble, solo artist, theatre company, or producing entity may submit a production for consideration by May 17. Productions must reflect U.S. Latinx theatre or illuminate, explore, or expand on an aspect of Latinidad. Diversity of language is encouraged. The selection committee includes award-winning theatre artists from the U.S., Mexico, and Honduras.
The festival will take place virtually November 12-21.
Latino Theater Company at the Los Angeles Theatre Center seeks to provide a world-class arts center for those pursuing artistic excellence, a laboratory where tradition and innovation are honored and honed, and a place where the convergence of people, cultures, and ideas contribute to the future.
