NAPLES, FLA.: Gulfshore Playhouse has announced its 2021-22 season, featuring five productions, including a  world premiere from Jeffrey Binder.

The season will open with August Wilson’s Radio Golf (Nov. 13-Dec. 5), the final play in Wilson’s revered Century Cycle. It tells the story of Harmond Wilks, who is determined to save his childhood neighborhood by becoming the Pittsburgh’s first Black mayor, but the cost of his efforts puts the neighborhood’s history in jeopardy.

Next will be the world premiere of Higher (Jan. 15-30, 2022), written by and starring Jeffrey Binder. Directed by CEO and producing artistic director Kristen Coury, this story of faith, healing, and hope makes its way to the stage after being first seen as a filmed production.

Following will be John Buchan’s The 39 Steps (Feb. 12-March 13, 2022), adapted by Patrick Barlow. Coury will direct this whodunit about Richard Hannay, who finds himself entangled in a nationwide manhunt after meeting a woman who claims to be a spy.

Ayad Akhtar’s The Invisible Hand (March 26-April 16, 2022) will be next. This political thriller follows an American investment banker being held for ransom by a militant group who strikes a deal with his captors to teach them how to manipulate the global market.

Closing out the season will be Another Revolution (April 30-May 15, 2022), by Jacqueline Bircher, about two graduate students forced to share a lab amid interpersonal differences, a campus devolving into political chaos, and the uncertainty of the outside world.

Gulfshore Playhouse will also present a Broadway Cabaret Series, Oct. 14-17, 21-24, and 28-31, featuring Grammy and Emmy winner John McDaniel as master of ceremonies. The season will also include the two student productions, of Annie (Dec. 16-18) and Clue (May 20-22, 2022).
