WASHINGTON, D.C.: Theater J has announced that nine streaming productions from leading Israeli theatre companies will be available as part of their Israeli Theater Collection. The collection features productions filmed before the coronavirus shutdown with English-language captions.
“All of us at Theater J are so proud to be partnering with these nine exciting Israeli theatre companies to share these wonderful stories with audiences throughout North America,” artistic director Adam Immerwahr said in a statement. “In this moment of quarantine, as so many theatres’ doors are closed, we’re proud to be making new connections and allowing new art to come streaming into our audiences’ homes.”
The collection will showcase works from Beit Lessin Theatre, the Cameri Theater, Ensemble Aspamia, Haifa Theatre, Gesher Theater, Nephesh Theatre, and Jaffa Theatre, Israel’s Arab-Hebrew theatre.
To expand the reach of the collection, Theater J has partnered with Jewish Community Centers and arts organizations in Cleveland, Baltimore, Hartford, Conn. Ontario, and Palo Alto, Calif.
Theater J is the nation’s largest and most prominent Jewish theatre and aims to preserve and expand a rich Jewish theatrical tradition.
