SAN FRANCISCO: Crowded Fire Theater has announced its 2020 season, featuring two contemporary plays.
The season will begin with the American premiere of Sedef Ecer’s At the Periphery (Feb. 23-April 4), translated from the Turkish by Evren Odcikin. Ecer’s play follows the lives of two generations of migrants in urban Istanbul. Crowded Fire will present At the Periphery in co-production with Golden Thread Productions in San Francisco. Erin Gilley will direct.
The season will continue with The Displaced (Sept. 10-Oct. 3, 2020) by Isaac Gomez, a supernatural story of gentrification in Chicago. Mina Morita, artistic director of Crowded Fire, will direct.
Crowded Fire will continue to develop new plays throughout their 2020 season through their Matchbox Commissioning and Development program, which culminates in public readings of new plays each year.
Founded in 1997, Crowded Fire is known for producing new plays about the meaning of culture and home in San Francisco.
