NEW YORK CITY: Theater Development Fund (TDF) has announced the winners of the 2018 TDF/Irene Sharaff Awards honoring excellence in theatrical costume design. TDF’s Costume Collection will honor the recipients at an awards ceremony in New York City on April 20, which will feature a memorial tribute to the designer Karinska.
“During this year’s selection process, a majority of the nominees for the awards in each category had a very strong presence in the world of dance,” said TDF’s Costume Collection director Stephen Cabral in a statement. “This is the first year in the awards’ 24-year history that designers of magnificent ballets from Balanchine to Wheeldon have won all of the awards.”
Costume designer Holly Hynes will receive the Irene Sharaff Lifetime Achievement Award; scenic designer Zach Brown will be awarded the Robert L. B. Tobin Award for Sustained Excellence in Theatrical Design; costume designer Travis Halsey will receive the TDF/Kitty Leech Young Master Award; and Fritz Masten will be honored with the TDF/Irene Sharaff Artisan Award.
