LOS ANGELES: After 17 years at the helm, Randall Arney will step down from the artistic directorship of Geffen Playhouse when his contract ends in August, according to a communication from the theatre.
“Randy Arney’s contributions to the Geffen Playhouse are varied and numerous, and we are supremely grateful for his inspired artistic leadership, unwavering commitment to our mission, and for leaving his indelible mark on our beloved institution,” said Geffen executive director Gil Cates Jr. in a statement. “We wish him every success and happiness.”
A veteran of Chicago’s Steppenwolf Theatre Company, Arney directed several productions at the Geffen, including Outside Mullingar and The Night Alive.
