TAMPA, FLA.: Jobsite Theater has announced a partnership with Community Foundation of Tampa Bay (CFTB), an organization focused on connecting donors, nonprofit organizations, and community leaders to improve the Tampa Bay community.
“We are very excited to partner with Jobsite Theater,” said Marlene Spalten, president and CEO of CFTB, in a statement. “Jobsite has made an incredibly positive impact in the community and we are honored to continue to support their efforts.”
Through the partnership, Jobsite will work with students in middle school through college on its annual Shakespeare productions. The theatre will create study guides for the schools, and teaching artists will engage with the students before and after performances. The partnership will allow Jobsite to offer hundreds of tickets to lower income schools for little to no cost to the theatre’s weekly matinee performances. The first production will be As You Like It (Jan.11, 2017-Feb.5, 2017), which will be set in modern day Tampa.
“We are ecstatic for this opportunity,” said David M. Jenkins, Jobsite’s producing artistic director, in a statement. “For years now we’ve searched for the right way to lay the cornerstone for our educational outreach efforts and have strongly believed our commitment to Shakespeare was the right vehicle. This partnership is going to significantly improve our efforts to impact the youth of the region while creating meaningful and sustainable work for our artists.”
