NEW YORK CITY: Transport Group has announced its 2016-17 season. The lineup will include a pair of William Inge plays in repertory, as well as a concert series of shows previously produced by the company.
The season will open with a one-night-only concert of Michael John LaChiusa’s Queen of the Mist (Oct. 16), which will feature Mary Testa and the original Off-Broadway cast from the 2012 Transport Group production.
Next up will be a one-night-only concert of A Man of No Importance (Dec. 5), written by Terrence McNally, Stephen Flaherty, and Lynn Ahrens. Both concerts are part of the Anne L. Bernstein Concert Series and will be directed by artistic director Jack Cummings III.
The main programming of the season will be two Inge plays. Picnic and Come Back, Little Sheba will run in repertory Feb. 23, 2017-April 23, 2017 at the Gym at Judson. Dane Laffrey will design sets; Kathryn Rohe will design costumes; and R. Lee Kennedy will provide lighting design.
Founded in 2001, Transport Group has produced 25 shows, including new works, revivals, plays, and musicals.
