ATLANTA: Kenny Leon’s True Colors Theatre Company has announced a three-show lineup for its 2016–17 season.
The season will open with David Auburn’s Proof (Oct. 25–Nov. 20). The play follows a genius mathematician’s daughter, who struggles with the possibility that she might have inherited her father’s madness. Tess Malis Kincaid will direct.
Next will be Ike Holter’s Exit Strategy (Feb. 14–March 12, 2017). The play is about a group of teachers who band together to save a Chicago high school from closing. John Dillon will direct.
The season will conclude with Stephen Adly Guirgis‘s Between Riverside and Crazy (July 11–Aug. 6, 2017), about an older man who is trying to hold onto his rent-stabilized apartment in Manhattan.
True Colors Theatre Company was founded in 2002 by Kenny Leon and Jane Bishop. The company focuses on African-American plays and reinterpreting classic and new works through an African-American lens.
