Amanda White Thietje Steps Down as Managing Director at Mixed Blood

The Minneapolis theatre loses and gains staff members this season.

MINNEAPOLIS: Mixed Blood Theatre has announced that managing director Amanda White Thietje will step down from her position this July. Director and community organizer Mark Valdez, who recently joined the company’s staff, will head the search for the next managing director.

Amanda White ThietjeThietje became managing director in 2012, after moving to the Twin Cities in 2011 to direct the Radical Hospitality program at Mixed Blood. During her tenure, Thietje reinvented the administrative structure of the company and created a new financial model. She oversaw the first phase of a $2.4 million capital campaign that allowed for the renovation of the company’s space. She currently teaches nonprofit management at St. Mary’s University. She serves on the board of Walking Shadow Theatre Company, and on the finance committee of the National New Play Network.

In addition to Valdez joining the staff, it was announced that the Mellon Foundation will continue to support Aditi Brennan Kapil as Mixed Blood’s playwright in residence through the summer of 2019.
