PORTLAND, ORE.: Profile Theatre will begin a national search for a new artistic director to replace Adriana Baer, who officially departs from her position on Dec. 31 of this year.
“The changes we have accomplished over the last three seasons are some of the most important in an organization’s lifetime,” said managing director Matthew Jones in a statement. “Adriana focused and reframed our vision to ensure that we will remain a culturally relevant and vibrant theatre, ready and able to adapt to our growing and changing community.”
Baer, who joined Profile in 2012, oversaw a doubling of the theatre’s budget, a 33 percent increase in audience size, and a transition to a new home in the Arts Hub of Portland’s Artists Repertory Theatre. She plans to remain in Portland, where she will work as a freelance director and theatre instructor.
“It has been an honor to serve Portland and its theatre community as artistic director of Profile, and to transition and grow this company to where it is now,” said Baer in a statement. “While being an administrative leader has been fulfilling in many ways, I am ready to return my focus to the rehearsal room and the classroom.”
