ROCHESTER, N.Y.: Geva Theatre Center has announced that executive director Tom Parrish will leave his position to become executive director of Trinity Repertory Company in Providence, R.I. A search has begun for a successor at Geva.
“Tom Parrish has demonstrated himself to be a true asset to Geva Theatre Center, working tirelessly to improve and strengthen the organization,” said Joanna Grosodonia, chair of Geva’s board of trustees, in a statement. “He has ushered Geva into a new and exciting era. Both Geva and the Rochester community have benefited from his contributions, and we wish him continued success in his career.”
Parrish worked alongside artistic director Mark Cuddy to improve the theatre’s finances, move toward completion of a $10 million capital and endowment campaign, acquire new artist housing, and renovate the company’s building. Since 2011, the theatre has produced six world premiere productions.
“It has been an honor and a privilege to co-lead Geva these past nearly five years,” said Parrish in a statement. “This was not an easy decision, but, for both personal and professional reasons, it was simply an opportunity I could not refuse. It gave me great encouragement to know that Geva is in a better position both artistically and financially to make this change.”
