CHICAGO: American Theater Company has appointed Dee Sandt as its new managing director.
Sandt comes to ATC from Atlanta’s Synchronicity Theatre, where she’s served as managing director since 2012. As a financial and development consultant, Sandt held the role of executive director at Beaufort Performing Arts in South Carolina from 2004 to 2008. She was also the proprietor and director of the national bus and truck Broadway touring companies 3D II International, SP Limited, and 3D Productions.
In addition, Sandt is known nationally as a director and choreographer. She was interim director of musical theatre performance for Western Michigan University and had a two-year stint as guest artist in musical theatre performance at Southwest Missouri State University.
“On behalf of the board, ensemble and staff, I’m thrilled to be able to welcome Dee to American Theater Company and the Chicago theatre community,” Art Cunningham, the organization’s board president, said in a statement. “She has a terrific track record of taking each theatre she’s managed to the next level and will play a pivotal role in ATC’s growth as we begin our 31st season.”
