CHICAGO: Griffin Theatre Company has announced its 2015—16 season, featuring a contemporary play, a classic play, and a musical revival.
The season begins with the Midwest premiere of Samuel D. Hunter’s Pocatello (Nov. 7—Dec. 13), about an Italian chain restaurant manager struggling to create an authentic experience in Idaho. Jonathan Berry will direct.
Next will be the Midwest premiere of John Van Druten’s London Wall (Jan. 9—Feb. 14, 2016), about the lives and love affairs of women employed as shorthand typists in 1930s London. Robin Witt will direct.
Following will be the Chicago premiere of Bat Boy: The Musical (June 4—July 24, 2016), with a book by Keythe Farley and Brian Flemming, and lyrics by Laurence O’Keefe, about a half-boy/half-bat creature discovered in a cave in West Virginia. Ethan Deppe will provide music direction and Scott Weinstein will direct.
