The season begins with the world premiere of J. Julian Christopher’s Animals Commit Suicide (Nov. 15–Dec. 12), about “bug-chasers”—gay men who actively seek to become infected with HIV as part of a dubious queer subculture. Hutch Pimentel will direct.
Next is the Chicago premiere of Ken Urban’s The Awake (Feb.14–March 12, 2016), about three strangers who are connected by their dreams and a malevolent corporation. Josh Altman will direct.
Following will be the Chicago premiere of Johnna Adams’s World Builders (June 5–July 2, 2016), about a couple participating in a clinical drug trial to treat schizoid personality disorder. Jesse Roth will direct.
Also part of the season is the First Floor Theater’s annual LitFest featuring new work from Chicago playwrights. The festival will be based on the life and work of a classic playwright, which will be announned.
