‘Hamilton’ Wins Best New Musical at Off Broadway Alliance Awards

‘Between Riverside and Crazy’ wins for best new play, and posthumous awards are given to Arthur Gelb, Judith Malina and Marian Seldes.

NEW YORK CITY: The Off Broadway Alliance has announced the winners of the fifth annual Off Broadway Alliance Awards, which honors commercial and nonprofit Off-Broadway productions. Among the winners were Stephen Adly Guirgis’s Between Riverside and Crazy, which won for new play, and Lin-Manuel Miranda’s Hamilton, which won for new musical.

In addition to the competitive awards, Robert Kalfin, Linda Lavin and Austin Pendleton won Legend of Off Broadway Awards for sustained achievement in Off-Broadway theatre. In addition, three 2015 Off Broadway Alliance Hall of Fame Awards will be given posthumously to Arthur Gelb, Judith Malina and Marian Seldes.

The alliance is made up of Off-Broadway producers, theatres, general managers, press agents and marketing professionals. The 2015 Off Broadway Alliance Awards will be presented on June 16 at Sardi’s.
