Savage Umbrella Announces 2015–16 Season of Devised Work

The new season will tackle themes of existentialism, fear and science fiction.

MINNEAPOLIS: New works ensemble Savage Umbrella has announced its 2015–16 season, which will include two company-written plays, a new play festival and a serial play presentation.

The season begins with the psychological horror story Sweet Dreams Alfie (October 2015), a bloody exploration of existentialism. The play is written by company member Russ Dugger and artistic director Laura Leffler-McCabe.

Next is managing director Hannah K. Holman’s June (February 2016), an examination of secrets, love, identity and fear.

Also part of the season will be the Night of New Works (April 2016), a mentorship program for emerging theatremakers culminating in a presentation at SPACE in St. Paul, Minn. Holman, Leffler-McCabe and company member Lisa Brimmer will curate.

The season will conclude on with Intellectual Property (June–July, 2016), a series of four live episodes about self-preservation through science, science fiction and medical research. The episodes were conceived by company members Mason Mahoney and Brimmer, and written by Brimmer.
