CHICAGO: The Irish Theatre of Chicago has announced its 21st season, with a lineup including a U.S. premiere and two Midwest premieres featuring the work of Irish playwrights.
The Midwest premiere of Geraldine Aron’s My Brilliant Divorce (Oct. 7– Nov. 1) kicks off the season. The solo show tells the story of a woman who finds herself suddenly single. Siiri Scott will direct and ensemble member Barbara Figgins will be featured.
Next is the Midwest premiere of In a Little World of Our Own (March 2–April 10) by Gary Mitchell, about three brothers who scramble to find the culprit of a heinous crime. The theatre’s associate artistic director, Jeri Frederickson, will direct the psychological thriller.
Following is the U.S. premiere of Spinning (May 25– July 3, 2016) by Deirdre Kinahan. It tells the story of a young man recently released from prison who meets a mother grieving the loss of her son. Joanie Shultz will direct.
