CHICAGO: The Goodman Theatre has named Marti Lyons its Michael Maggio directing fellow for the 2014–15 season. The fellowship, which recognizes early-career directors, comes with a stipend and will allow Lyons to serve as a member of the Goodman’s artistic team and assist on productions.

Lyons is an emerging Chicago-based director. Her directing credits include work with the Gift Theatre Company, Jackalope Theatre Company and Walkabout Theatre Company. She recently directed Seminar at Haven Theatre.

The Michael Maggio Directing Fellowship was established in the memory of a former Goodman associate artistic director who directed 22 productions at the theatre. Previous fellows have included Erica Weiss, Jimmy McDermott and Joanie Schultz. Applications for the 2015–16 season are due on Sept. 1, 2015.
