PAWTUCKET, R.I.: The board of directors of the Sandra Feinstein-Gamm Theatre announced that Oliver Dow will be the theatre’s new managing director, effective Nov. 3. Dow comes with more than 15 years of experience in professional theatre, both nonprofit and commercial, including as executive director of the LAByrinth Theater Company, managing director of the New Group and capital campaign manager for Atlantic Theater Company. Dow joins the Gamm in the midst of a period of growth in audience numbers, and will be integral to the development of the theatre’s next strategic plan. Dow replaces managing director David M. Wax, who is leaving for health reasons after two and a half years in the position.
“David’s shoes were always going to be very hard to fill, so I want to acknowledge our board and search committee for their incredible work in bringing Oliver in from a field of many outstanding candidates,” said Gamm artistic director Tony Estrella in a statement. “I am excited and humbled to begin working with Oliver, a proven leader with an impressive array of experience at some of New York’s leading theaters whose missions share the Gamm’s passion for serious, provocative and innovative work.”
Dow, who holds a B.F.A. in drama from New York University, is originally from New England, as is his wife; his hiring at the Gamm marks his return to the region.
