Rob Ruggiero is the new artistic director of TheatreWorks in Connecticut, having been serving as the interim artistic director. His Broadway directorial credits include High and Looped.
Artists Repertory Theatre of Portland, Ore., welcomed a new artistic director in January: Damaso Rodriguez. Previously the co-artistic director of Los Angeles’s Furious Theatre Company, Rodriguez replaces Allen Nause, who has retired after 25 years at the helm.
Martin Platt has stepped down as artistic director of Olney Theatre Center in Maryland, after serving at the theatre since June 2012. In the interim, Alan Wade will serve in the position until a permanent replacement is found.
Bonnie Metzgar will be stepping down as artistic director of Chicago’s About Face Theatre Company at the end of the 2012–13 season. She has directed the theatre for five seasons. A search is underway for her replacement.
San Francisco Lamplighters Music Theatre has announced that artistic director Barbara Heroux will step down at the end of the 2013–14 season. Heroux has been a company member since 1974 and will continue to direct productions at the theatre.
Carol Piersol has resigned from her position as artistic director of Firehouse Theatre Project in Virginia. Piersol led the theatre since its beginning in 1993.
David M. Wax is now the managing director of Gamm Theatre in Rhode Island. Wax was previously the acting executive director, filling in for Yvonne Seggerman during her sabbatical. Seggerman has since resigned.
Jon Wojciechowski Jr. has begun his tenure as managing director of Cape May Stage in New Jersey. He was previously the managing director of Portland Stage in Maine.
Merry-Go-Round Playhouse and Finger Lakes Musical Theatre Festival in Auburn, N.Y., has a new general manager and associate artistic director: Brett Smock. Smock has directed and choreographed more than 32 productions at Merry-Go-Round since 1992.
Dawn Helsing Wolters, managing director of Milwaukee Repertory Theater, will be leaving the company at the end of the season. She has held the post since 2009. There is currently a search for a new managing director.
Washington Ensemble Theatre has appointed Hannah Victoria Franklin as the ensemble’s first managing director. Franklin has been an ensemble member since 2009.
Publisher Samuel French, Inc. has named Bruce Lazarus executive director. Lazarus is the former director of business and legal affairs for Walt Disney Theatrical Productions.
